The superhero characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) not only overwhelm the audience with their superhuman abilities but also with their complex and emotional life stories. Not all superheroes are ‘destined’ to have a happy, prosperous life. In fact, Marvel’s most beloved superheroes are the characters who overcome pain and loss in life to work towards justice and humanity. 10. Hank Pym
As the first Ant-Man, Hank Pym lost his wife while trying to stop a nuclear bomb. His wife has been shrunk to the molecular level and trapped in quantum physics. Although the two were later able to reunite, Hank Pym spent a lifetime suffering and tormented by the loss of his cherished wife.
Not only Gamora’s family but also her planet were murdered by Thanos when she was young. Gamora was kidnapped by Thanos, trained to become an assassin, and had to constantly confront her sister. Later, Gamora suffered a tragic fate when she was killed by Thanos himself.
8. Iron Man
