Scruffy Keanu Reeves cut a lonely figure during a morning stroll in Manhattan on Monday ahead of the opening of his Broadway show, Waiting for Godot.
The 61-year-old Matrix alum appeared disheveled wearing a thin olive-green jacket over a black V-neck top, distressed brown Corduroy pants, and a pair of worn-out brown boots.
Keanu sported a red trucker cap repping his company ARCH Motorcycle, which he co-founded with builder Gard Hollinger in 2011.
Reeves – whose salt-and-pepper beard was overgrown – completed his casual off-stage attire by toting a bright orange recyclable bag.
As the International Emmy-winning producer focused on his phone, he seemed to be recreating the #SadKeanu meme that went viral back in 2010.
Keanu’s street sighting came the day after his publicist was forced to deny rumors that he had secretly wed his girlfriend of seven years, Alexandra Grant.

‘It is not true,’ Reeves’ rep told E! News in a statement. ‘They are not married.’
In honor of his birthday on September 2, the 52-year-old artist shared a snap of his heart-shaped cake captioned: ‘I am so grateful for your love and partnership.’
The Ballerina producer-star shared the keys to lasting love with E! News last February: ‘Sharing, communicating, you know, supporting.’
Keanu originally met Alexandra – whom he calls ‘my honey’ – at a dinner party in 2009 before contributing poetry to two of her books, Ode to Happiness in 2011 and Shadows in 2016.
Reeves and Grant co-founded the small publishing imprint X Artists’ Books in 2017 alongside Jessica Fleischmann before they officially began dating in 2018.
The Beirut-born Canadian previously romanced Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron and Oscar-winning screenwriter Sofia Coppola – as well as the late David Lynch’s assistant Jennifer Syme, who died in a 2001 car accident after welcoming their stillborn daughter in 1999.
Keanu is currently in previews in his Broadway debut as the hapless Estragon in director Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Samuel Beckett’s surrealist tragicomedy, which runs next Sunday through January 4, 2026 at the Hudson Theatre in Manhattan.
‘I have been thinking, like, hmm, how can I get a cold plunge in my room?’ Reeves told the New York Times of the physical demands.

‘It’s difficult, it’s fun, it pays, it has commitment, it asks a lot, it demands a lot — and it’s so good that it does. We are lucky today.’
